South Korea to invest US$9bn in wind power by 2019
South Korea plans to build a 2.5GW wind power complex by 2019, investing KRW10.2tn (US$9bn) to diversify its energy resources, said the Ministry of Knowledge.
State-run Korea Electric Power Corp and its fully-owned six utilities will lead the offshore wind farm project, to be located in the southwestern region.
Currently, the country is heavily reliant on energy imports and the new project would generate power sufficient for around 10% of national population.
