Petrovietnam awards 1200MW coal-fired power plant contract
Following a broad agreement, Petrovietnam has awarded its subsidiary Petrovietnam Technical Services Corp (PTSC) the contract to buy, install and test-run the 1200MW Song Hau 1 thermal power plant in the Mekong Delta province of Hau Giang.
The twin-turbine plant would be fired with Indonesian and Australian coal to generate around 7800GWh annually.
The 5200MW Song Hau Power Complex will consist of three coal-fired power plants, according to a March 2010 masterplan. The complex marks the shift in Vietnam from hydropower to coal-fired thermal power.
