Polish electricity prices set to soar
Analysts have forecast that the cost of power in Poland will increase by a third over the next two years as the country attempts to reach its EU climate policy targets.
Brussels has said that carbon emissions from Polish power plants, mainly based on coal, are Europe’s black spot. As a result, Poland will experience higher costs to cover its CO2 emissions.
The Polish government has pledged to diversify its energy sources and introduce technology to help minimise CO2 emissions but it is expected that the programme will take about two decades to materialise fully.
