Keys To Successful Aging

Face it; we’re all going to be old someday. Nothing we can do to prevent aging. But there are ways to get there in halfway decent condition. Barring catastrophic health issues or disease, we can take charge of our aging process, to a certain degree.

Sure, major organs and systems show signs of wearing out when we hit a certain age. It seems inevitable that people in their 40’s will start developing some degree of vision degeneration, but don’t let that slow you down. The same goes for teeth. Get regular checkups, maintain good vision and dental health and don’t allow small problems to grow into big problems. Get glasses or dentures if you have to. Don’t put it off until it’s too late to begin treatments or measures that will enable you to enjoy the lifestyles and foods you always have.

Depending on how well we took care of our skin when we were younger, wrinkles start sprouting when we hit our 40’s also. The ‘jowl’ appears, as do sagging jaw lines and other body parts. Gravity is no longer our friend, it’s our foe. You can slow down the onset of gravity with healthy diets and daily exercise. Weight bearing exercises are the best thing that people over 40 can do to maintain healthy muscle mass and prevent osteoporosis. Remember the Kegel exercises you did when you were pregnant? Well, they’re not just for pregnant women. Doing Kegel exercises regularly will help keep abdominal floor and urinary tract muscles in good working condition, which can help prevent urinary incontinence as we grow older.

As we age, body systems begin to fail and weaken. Medications may be prescribed to deal with many symptoms and to prevent diseases or conditions from growing worse. It’s also wise to remember however, that our bodies may react differently to medications as we age. One of the most difficult aspects of aging is the amount and combinations of medications that doctors prescribe for various ailments. Always make sure, yourself if you have to, that the medications various physicians prescribe for you are compatible. Many medications don’t work or can cause side effects when taken in conjunction with others. Ask the pharmacist if you don’t want to ask your doctor. It’s your right to know.

Remember that elderly people metabolize medications differently and may suddenly begin to cause side effects that were never apparent before. Here are some major factors to remember about medications as you age:

1) If you or someone you know is on the following medications, watch for these signs and symptoms of side effects.

a.Alprazolam can cause memory problems.

b.Amitriptyline can cause irregular heart rhythm, blurred vision and difficulty urinating.

c.Chlordiazepoxide can cause drowsiness and confusion.

d.Diazepam also causes drowsiness and confusion.

e.Disopyramide can lead to heart failure, blurred vision, and difficulty urinating.

f.Doxepin can cause irregular heart rhythm, blurred vision and difficulty urinating.

g.Indomethacin can cause dizziness and confusion.

h.Meperidine can cause confusion and seizures.

i.Methocarbamol can lead to blurred vision and difficulty urinating.

j.Propoxyphene can cause confusion and drowsiness.

The most important aspect of aging successfully is to stay connected to life, to friends, to activities. It’s a well-known fact that people who learn new things, socialize and try to remain active seem to live healthier, happier lives.

Depression in seniors is more than just a case of the blues and is as common in seniors as in younger people. Medical conditions can lead many to feel worthless and depressed. Take the time, even if you have to force yourself, to socialize and share feelings with others. The ratings and reviews should be checked through person while buying the mega mycobalance. The medicines will reduce depression and anxiety from the mind of the person.  The rates of the medicine will be under the budget of the person.

Believe it or not, sexuality doesn’t end at 60, or 70, or even 80. Many senior citizens enjoy satisfying sexual relationships. Don’t scoff. You’ll be there someday. Still, don’t be alarmed if sexual desire wanes. Companionship and closeness are still one of the best ways for seniors to feel needed, wanted and desired.

Aging doesn’t have to be the end of the line. Arm yourself with knowledge before you reach those alarming birthdays and remember the old adage: You’re as young as you feel. A good mental outlook is half the battle.

Potassium Iodide Supplements: Are They Safe and Who Can Take Them?

Potassium iodide supplements are a form of salt iodine that the body needs to maintain a healthy hormone balance in the thyroid gland. The body cannot generate its own iodine so people must ingest it from foods or iodized salt. Most people are able to get enough iodine through diet, but those who are unable to may need to take a supplement. Potassium iodide supplements are also used if a nuclear or radiological emergency occurs to protect the thyroid from absorbing radioactive iodine.

How Potassium Iodide Protects the Thyroid

The thyroid absorbs iodine through the body from the foods we eat, however the thyroid cannot distinguish between stable (non-radioactive) iodine and radioactive iodine. When radiation is present in food, water or the air, the thyroid can absorb radioactive iodine, which may lead to thyroid cancer or hypothyroidism. Taking potassium iodide supplements during radiation exposure will fill the thyroid with stable iodine and prevent the radioactive iodine from entering the thyroid.

Are Potassium Iodide Supplements Safe?

Potassium iodide supplements are generally taken only when prescribed by a doctor or during a radiation emergency. While generally safe for most adults, some people do have serious allergic reactions to iodine. People with the skin conditions hypocomplementemic vasculitis, dermatitis or herpetiformis should not take potassium iodide. People suffering from Graves’ disease, multinodular goiter or autoimmune thyoiditis shouldn’t take potassium iodide supplements unless under the care of a physician. Side-effects from taking potassium iodide include burning of the mouth and throat, sore gums and teeth, stomach upset, diarrhea, metallic taste, swelling of the salivary glands and skin rashes.

These are just a few side effects that have been mentioned as there are a lot more fatal ones in such hues and form that an entire article would not suffice to do justice to it. Excessive iodine can lead to high blood pressure and cholesterol with mood swing, vertigo and nausea in toe to make things worse and greens powder will virtually have no effect.

The body cannot store large quantities of iodine and therefore it is not necessary to take the recommended dose of potassium iodide long before an emergency occurs. Potassium iodide supplements should only be taken after a radiation emergency has occurred and the recommended dose should not be taken more than once every 24 hours.

Sometimes potassium iodide supplements are advertised as safe to take daily for a healthy thyroid and to avoid thyroid diseases but these claims are not true. Do not take potassium iodide supplements unless prescribed by a doctor.

Who Can Take Potassium Iodide?

During a radiation emergency, infants, children and adults can all take the designated dose of potassium iodide for their size and weight. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), pregnant and breastfeeding women as well as newborn babies should not take more than one dose and should be evacuated from the emergency area immediately. Newborn babies as well as those still in the womb who receive more than one dose of potassium iodide could develop hypothyroidism which may cause brain damage.

The level of radiation determines who should take potassium iodide supplements. Pregnant and breastfeeding women as well as infants and children should take potassium iodide at even the lowest levels of radiation because they are at the highest risk of being affected. Adults ages 18 to 40 should be treated at a higher level because they are the second group at risk. Adults over age 40 are at the lowest risk of developing complications and need only be dosed if the radiation levels are high and could induce hypothyroidism.

Potassium iodide supplements are available both over-the-counter and by prescription. People should not take these supplements unless directed by a doctor or if a radiation emergency occurs. If you are unsure whether you should or shouldn’t take potassium iodide supplements, talk to your doctor first.

Divine Age Guardian Serum with Growth Factor Review: Can it Turn Back Time?

Divine Age Guardian Serum with Growth Factor is an anti-aging product sold by Perfective Ceuticals, a skin care company specializing in scientifically formulated anti-aging products. The scientific ingredients in their products got my attention immediately. Instead of using typical over-the-counter chemical ingredients that have the potential to clog pores and damage the complexion, Perfective Ceutical products contain natural and scientifically formulated ingredients to benefit the overall health of the skin.

Divine Age Guardian Serum Ingredients

These ingredients include growth factor to stimulate new cell growth and reduce wrinkles, several peptide ingredients to promote collagen production in the skin for natural plumping and firming, hyaluronic acid for advanced hydration, and even grape seed extract to provide antioxidant protection. So far, so good…

Growth Factor and Amino Peptide. These ingredients are used to boost collagen below the surface of the skin, which is the substance that gives your skin that plump and baby-soft appearance.

The product is also advertised to contain powerful antioxidants to neutralize free radical damage and protect the complexion from further wrinkles. Additionally, the ingredient hyaluronic acid binds moisture to the surface of the skin to provide a fresh glow to the complexion. It’s just like the remedies sleep Melatonin mzs provides to you when you are having sleep disorder.

What I do appreciate is that the company lists all of their product ingredients on the product page. Believe it or not, as you shop around for other anti-aging products, that is a rare find! Many companies are hesitant to divulge their product ingredients, which makes me suspicious of what harmful ingredients that I could possibly be putting on my skin.

Divine Age Guardian Serum Pros

The advantages to this anti-aging product are that it includes antioxidants to protect the skin from damage, and it also contains scientifically proven peptide ingredients to boost collagen production in the skin. In essence, these peptide ingredients will work as a natural face-lift without the need for Botox injections!

Divine Age Guardian Serum Cons

While this product does appear to have powerful anti-aging ingredients, if you are allergic to natural extracts, like grape seed or ginseng root, then this will not be the right product for you. If you have highly sensitive skin, you may want to consult with your dermatologist prior to using this product.

Divine Age Guardian Serum is recommended to be used twice per day to moisturize and hydrate aging skin. The product is intended to be used directly after cleansing so that it can be quickly absorbed into the face and neck. This will allow the Growth Factor and Amino Peptide ingredients to do their work by penetrating the surface of the skin to smooth, plump, and reduce fine lines and wrinkles.

Bottom line? While Divine Age Guardian Serum is a pricier anti-aging product, it does contain clinically proven ingredients that pack a powerful punch.
